Our Juana hat is traditionally made by the Wayúu, the Colombian indigenous group on the Caribbean Coast, that hand wove them out of Iraca palm. They use a technique called sarga, or diagonal weave with black and natural flat straws, forming traditional Wayúu patterns.
The patterns and symbols on each hat, tell the stories of the ancestors of the artisan that for a whole day hand wove it.
The patterned black and white hat is finished with a striking wool braided band and three pompons.
