The Carmen handbag, is traditionally called Mochila by the Wayúu, the Colombian indigenous group on the Caribbean Coast, that hand wove them.
This detailed colorful bag can take up to 3 weeks to be made by crochet with a single cotton thread, by the Wayuu women. The wide handle is woven in a manual loom. Each of the patterns featured on the weave has a name and traditional meaning, that speaks about the tribe´s daily life.
